NIGHT OF CLOCKS on DVD!

This is good news to cheer: the last film Jean Rollin is now available on DVD in France (Region 2 PAL )! In addition to film a good transfer, Included are trailers for various films of Rollin and a 15-minute interview with the director, always interesting and enthusiastic while discussing a bit of everything.

From what I've seen, the DVD is not yet online at the big sellers (or Amazon.fr Fnac.com). Maybe is it an independent output or limited edition, but it can be found easily on the publisher's site in question: http://www.lcj-editions.com (or more Specifically here). It is good to see a nice pocket for one of his films, other than visual company that tries Redemption to resume with the recent re-editions.

few days ago, I received my copy, which arrived at high speed (less than three days between ordering and receiving in France in Quebec) and I found myself with a new surprise with the DVD in hand: we cited one of my comments about the film on the cover (it comes from here)! Many will say that there is nothing exceptional about that, but for my part, I am very honored thing. Jean Rollin is one of the filmmakers I admire greatly and with whom I could talk some years ago. Of the meeting was already a great moment, then the opportunity spend some time with him is unforgettable. His works touch me here and especially one of my reviews can be found there on the cover of the wonderful film that is NIGHT OF CLOCKS . Superb!

Despite a slight mistake in the address of the site, my enthusiasm remains and I am blessed by this surprise. Besides, it's still funny as my great friend Frederick had also had the chance to exit the North American THE BRIDE OF DRACULA . Fun.

The good news continues: Rollin has released a new book recently BALL CLOWN among E-called . A few weeks later, I learned that Rollin has been running a short film of 52 minutes, THE MASK OF MEDUSA , working for the first time in HD. We can now enjoy a little making-of that here:

Making Of Jean Rollin "The Mask of Medusa" After the first

in Toulouse it was not so long ago he announces that he plans to shoot additional footage to make a feature film! Wonderful! He said everywhere that NIGHT OF CLOCKS would be his last film, but that's the fighter who returns with a new project for our pleasure. It only remains to wait to sink once again into his dream world ...

What Is The White Stuff Around My Clitoris ?

Death of Paul Naschy ...

I was struck by a few days ago a new sad: Jacinto Molina (aka Paul Naschy ) died on the night of November 30 last. Pancreatic cancer killed him. I had no idea his battle with the disease that began last year, as projects and appearances accumulated for him lately, with his strong enthusiasm for each of them, suggesting good shape.

Leaving behind him a very original work, macabre, gothic, often equipped with werewolves and bloody historical figures, his singular vision emanated always a dreamlike atmosphere tasty little thing shared by his peers. It was definitely the eternal dreamer who clung ever made despite overwhelming odds. Inveterate admirer of classic monsters of Universal , Naschy has not only worked in the cinema of horror as his long filmography shows, but now this part easily reveals his enthusiasm for the genre films.

I watch just a few months ago the magnificent package released by BCI / Eclipse (The Paul Naschy Collection ) including five very different films in his filmography, leaving aside his adventures as a lycanthrope. Everyone has a special charm: the fantastic English surprising images where the strange and the macabre dominate and where discoveries are unique and numerous. My favorite of this batch is HUMAN BEASTS (1985) (aka El carnaval de las bestias ), a film and the dreary weather with a curious scenario very dark and surprising that I highly recommend. His most famous character remains obviously Waldemar Daninsky a lycanthrope to finding a cure for his curse that will last for ten films where the title of his autobiography, "Memoirs of a Wolfman .

To date, Naschy's films other than fantastic practice remains unknown leaving a whole part of his career despite his recent loss experience; small consolation for morale after such further steep. I had the chance to meet the man a few years ago at the Fantasia festival and I have very fond memories of this being warm, friendly and generous, braving the early hours of the night to meet each of its fans. A memorable moment as he makes his films always good to rediscover.

Goodbye Jacinto Molina, and thank you for your fantastic cinema.

How Do You Create A Plastic Bottle Cap Bracelet?

Jess Franco, Robert De Nesle .... and Pete Tombs?

This blog often sleeps at the same times each year. Whether by my sudden lack of enthusiasm, lack of time daily or too many projects designed at the same time which, given the second reason, probably never will be completed or if not in many moons ... But then, I always come back to life a little when I find the time or at different events causing excessive enthusiasm.

A recent news story sparked such enthusiasm and it owes it to Pete Tombs and Andy Starke Mondo Macabro of , DVD label out of the ordinary that still manages to find attractive securities. This time it's an event. We had expected more.

I wrote some time ago about the white night dedicated to Jess Franco at the Cinémathèque québécoise ( here) which proposed a new version on the market video of the film THE OBSCENE MIRROR (See more here ) presented in glorious 35mm. It was a discovery under several points ... Well now this film is part of the productions of French Film Desk of Robert De Nesle for which the distribution was not available on the market for DVD because of rights and very little on the VHS market (let alone Version respected). All productions of Nesle incubation it had the same fate and remains a problem ...

We continued to hope in vain for years that the securities would fall from the sky at one time or another. Then, last weekend, Tombs announced after three years of the negotiations came in 2010 Franco 70 - The De Nesle Years Vol. 1-3. No titles to sink your teeth yet, but WOW! What a surprise! It's time to party regardless of the titles. Speculation begins ...

Two days ago, Mondo Macabro confirmed the titles of these three volumes: LORNA THE EXORCIST (one of my favorites), THE DIARY OF a nymphomaniac and COUNTESS PERVERSE (where j 'had even mounted a DVD with the existing version most faithful to the wishes of Franco, but far from original).

It is not surprising, however, this selection all three are favorites of Pete Tombs and more. Mondo Macabro DVD release is hoped that these will be the beginning of a long list of titles, which multiplies even more enthusiasm. Especially as done by them, we can expect a quality treatment done with great respect. Finally!

If all goes well, the first volume will point the nose in May. It's still far, but it's nothing compared to waiting for it before with the despair of not perhaps never see movies in a user friendly version, let alone a version without censorship.

That day is coming ....
